The Eye Associates facility in Venice, Florida is very nice, and the staff is very nice. The doctors are great. The process of having to see an optometrist before seeing an opthalmologist is quite drawn out, but to be expected, especially when insurance requires referrals. My next appointment was a month away, but I was offered to be put on a waitlist and by luck my appointment was moved up almost a month. However, having to pay $75 cash for a refraction test every visit is quite a money grab since I had to pay for it today when seeing the ophthalmologist and I also had to pay for a refraction test a week ago when I saw the optometrist. How much can your eyes change in 7 days? And, the test is approximately 4 seconds per eye. It doesnt warrant a $75 fee. Quite a scheme since insurance doesnt pay for it. And, apparently, every patient has to have it done.
